New FO and other things

I have a new FO to present:

Garterlac Dishcloth

I decided to try a dishcloth and liked the idea of trying Entrelac at the same time. I enjoyed knitting this as I had to think all the time which was next, a triangle or a square? It took me about 4 attempts to get it right, but once I got going it was a quick project. I got this done last Sunday in between the ironing and roasting a chicken for dinner.

In other news, I decided I had to do something about the HUGE stash that was all over the spare bedroom, so off I went to Home Store & More. It's exactly the same as Bed Bath and Beyond (or Blood Bath & Beyond as my hubby calls it). I don't know why they changed the name of the store when they opened over here, but I digress.

I went looking for stash storage and lots of it.

I came home with this:

A hanging shoe rack! I know, I know, you're mad I hear you say, but it hangs vertically therefore it is space saving and it has clear sides so I can see at a glance what I have in each "shoe shelf"! I think it's great. I got two of these but so far have only filled one. The overflow went into a pop up laundry bag as they are either big balls of yarn or in packets of 10 and I couldn't be bothered opening them up.

While there, I saw this and couldn't resist.

Isn't it lovely? Totally not me as it's very girly, but I saw it and thought what a nice project basket! So I snapped it up. I'm still on holiday spending spree mode as I haven't got my Visa bill yet. I think it will be here tomorrow. (I can hear the postman panting up the road drowning under the weight of it. He'll probably go off work sick with back pain afterwards.)

I'm dying to get my copy of Interweave Knits Winter. I subscribed a couple of months ago as the price was so cheap and after seeing what others have already done (Del) I'm chomping at the bit to get started.

So, another busy weekend! I've cast on for the front of the Premiere Pullover and am slogging away at the Lacy Stole for Mam as well.

Oh! I nearly forgot! I finished Dad's socks at the SnB last night too, so his Christmas knitting is all done! Yay me!

Progress Report

Hello,
A bit of progress to report. I've been a busy bee!

First up, progress on the Premiere Pullover:

Not a lot, as you can see. I'm almost finished the armhole shaping, about 2 more repeats of the cable pattern before the shoulder shaping. It's a slow knit, this one! I'm a bit worried about it actually, it looks a bit small to me. I'm knitting it in the 34" bust size (which I am far from lol) so maybe it's just because I'm not used to garments looking that small! I hope I haven't knit it too tightly.

Next up, Socks for Dad:

The first one is finished! Doesn't it look good? I love this Lana Grossa self striping yarn. My first knit on dpns. I must admit that I've started the second one on my trusty circular again using the magic loop. I'm just more comfortable with it. I found the toe decreases very difficult on the dpns. Needles everywhere!
But, I'm glad I know how to do it now, as I'll be casting on for my Monkey socks with the Araucania yarn I recently bought for my airplane knitting.

Lastly, Mam's Lacy Stole:

I'm sorry to report that I didn't get it finished in time for her birthday last Wednesday. I substituted with a bunch of flowers instead, I just didn't have the time. I knit on this almost constantly at home but to no avail. I have about 25 or 26" done which I suppose is not bad going! I have to get to 72". I think I'll give it to her for Christmas instead. I know she'll love it!

I hope to get another post in before my holidays (yarn travels) begin on Thursday, but if not, watch out LYS in the Orlando area, I'm coming!!!

WIP Progress

I've been busy knitting away, but it doesn't look like much...

Premiere Pullover:

I'm almost finished shaping the armholes on the back. This is a slow knit as it hurts my knuckles for some strange reason. Must be the acrylic, I'm not sure. I have to do a bit, swop for another project and then go back to it.

Socks For Dad:

I'm really proud of myself, my first pair of socks on dpns! It's going great at the moment, I'm almost finished the heel flap on the first one. They'll be nice extra for Dad's Christmas present along with the cable sweater.

I splurged the other day and ordered some hand dyed merino sock yarn from Etsy:

It was only $24 including postage. That's great when you take into account the dollar/euro situation so I couldn't help myself. I should have it tomorrow or Tuesday so I'll post pics when it arrives! I'm thinking a pair of Monkey socks for the plane journey??

I have a HUGE list that I might type up and post here of all of the yarns I am looking at buying when I head over in 3 weeks!! It's rather large so I think I may have to sacrifice one or two!
