Lots of Progress

I feel like I have lots to report this week, I have been a busy bunny! I was off work for the week as my daughter was off school and also happened to catch an awful cold, so lots of knitting was done while curled up on the sofa watching crappy tv. For crappy tv, read cartoons that my daughter was watching. I don't know how she likes that crap. Anyway, onto the progress reports!

First up, my Tangled Yoke Cardigan:

I have finished the body up as far as the sleeves and am about a third of the way through the first sleeve. I'm unsure about the length of the body, it looks to me like it may be a bit short for my liking, so before I join on the sleeves when I finish them, I'll decide whether to knit a few more rows on the body.

Next, the Slipped Stitch Rib Socks:

This is the second sock and is coming along nicely. I should finish these this week hopefully. Hubby's birthday is Friday 29th, so I've loads of time.

A new project! I bought Carol Meldrum's Knitted Icons (ravelry link) a while back on special in Borders and thought it was hilarious. Hubby loves David Bowie, so I decided to surprise him with a David Bowie doll too!

I have the doll all knit up and stuffed, I just need to sew him together. I have the felt for the jumpsuit cut out, I need to sew it together and then put on the doll. I'm hopeless at sewing, so I don't have very hight hopes for the jumpsuit, but it's only for fun anyway.

I also got a present of some Finnish yarn from my SnB friend, Lumia.

Isn't it lovely? I just love pinks. Thanks Lumia!

That's all the knitting news, on the property front, we have put a bid on a house and are waiting to see if it is accepted. We should know on Monday and all going well, I'll post a picture of the house then. I'm still not madly enthusiastic about it, but I do realise it has to be done.

I had to add this:
We decorated some Gingerbread Men today, and if you ever needed any proof that my Hubby has a screw loose, then here it is:

The Gingerbread Men

Mine are on the right. Some fairly standard clown and girl in bikini action. My daughters are in the middle, some nice ones there I think you'll agree. Then we come to his:

I'm calling this Nacho Libre, even though I know this is meant to be a gimp. He's so nasty.

This one is Britney Spears, in her outfit for Hit Me Baby One More Time.

I rest my case.

Bad Blogger!

Oh my, it's been a while, I'm such a bad blogger!

It's just been really busy recently chez moi. It looks like we may be moving house and that has taken up nearly all of my time - ringing estate agents and viewing houses. I don't really want to move, as I have a nice little 4 year plan that will leave me mortgage free (and able to buy my dream holiday home in Florida) but both mine and my husbands work are moving premises (what's the chances of that!) and we will have no car parking anymore, so the commute would be ridiculous for us all if we stay where we are. We'll see how it goes, but I'm not looking forward to telling my parents if this goes ahead. I currently live 5 mins away and my mother is unwell (dementia) so that makes it really hard.

Anyway, onto happier things, an FO!

Pattern: Child's First Sock in Shell Pattern from Knitting Vintage Socks
Yarn: YarnAddict Yarns Easy Care Merino Sock Yarn, colour Dream. This is hand dyed yarn I purchased from Etsy a while back, and really lovely to work with. The feel is really silky too!
I enjoyed this pattern, but found it a bit tedious at times.

Next up, a WIP:

I'm calling these John's Rambo Socks. They're just like camouflage! These are his birthday socks.
Pattern: Slipped Stitich Rib Socks from Sensational Knitted Socks
Yarn: Crystal Palace Panda Cotton, colour Fern. I must say I'm not overly happy with this yarn. It's quite heavy for socks in my opinion and it's really splitty. Although, it is really cool and comfy once knit up. We'll see how it washes, as it's quite stretchy.

Progress is coming along slowly but surely on the Tangled Yoke. I will post pics later. I'm well into the stockinette which takes forever as the rows are so long! Still, no joining up must be a good thing!

Have a good day!
