Behold the teeny BSJ:
Pattern: Baby Surprise Jacket from The Opinionated Knitter
Yarn: Wendy Happy in Sagittarius
Needles: 3.5mm KnitPicks Options
*sigh* I think it has turned out way too small. I doubt this would fit a newborn, would it? Maybe it would fit a preemie? Should I rip it or donate it to a preemie charity? Plus those buttons cost me a bomb at UK Ravelry Day. You can't really see them but they are the most delicious little sheep. I took about a dozen pictures but none came out as it's dark now.
I wish I could find the business card for the person I bought them from, I would definitely buy more.
I'm also disappointed with how the yarn turned out. It looked much "pinker" in the ball, which was what I wanted, but overall it has turned out far more brown/bronze. Not that there's anything wrong with the colours, but I was after pink.
I don't know what to do with it at all.
No other progress to report, I'm still suffering from afghan-blindness. It's a terrible affliction, symptoms include the inability to see the bloody great big afghan that's sitting right at your feet and you have to step around in order to get up from the sofa. A terrible affliction, I tell you.
But, it's one I have to get over rapidly. It's only 7 weeks tomorrow until we're off to Florida! Oh noes!

What are the measurements? If you're giving it away, keep the buttons and use them for something else. If you'd like the yarn for another project then frog it. I'm sure a preemie charity could use it. Or if it's really that small it could be a very fancy-nancy jacket for a doll!
I've recently completed a BSJ in Wendy Happy & it is teeny-tiny but I think it will fit a newborn - for at least it's first week! ;-)
I've loads of yarn left (I bought two balls) so I was thinking of making a second one double-stranded on larger needles so the baby has one to grow into.
You could put the more special buttons on the larger one that the baby will get more wear out of.
I like the colours. I did mine in Virgo & it's a little *too* pink for what I wanted.
Had that same problem! It is tiny, but awfully cute. Second one I made, used size 11 needles and a sport weight yarn and it came out to be 12-18 month size. I'm glad it got finished though, because I am gonna make an adult one sometime!
Take back the buttons and give it away. Some mum of a premmie is going to say "What! This is a teeny teeny BSJ by EZ!!" hehehe.
I share your discovery! I made a BSJ with DK weight on 4mm needles, and congratuated myself that Baby would have something to wear until at least maybe 6 months. New Mom sent me a pic a week ago of Baby aged 1 month filling that BSJ to the brim! Luckily knitting is stetchy, but you know, I'm not so sure he'll see 6 months in that outfit! Kat.
Could it be used for a doll or a teddy bear? It seems a shame to frog it
I agree, keep the buttons and give the project to charity.
