Wipdown No. 1

I'm off to a good start on my WipDown. Wip No. 1 complete!
I'm calling this my Myrtle Leaf Shawl (abridged) as I made it shorter and left out the border.
Embarrassingly, I started this on February 12 this year. For shame, for shame.

It measures 52" long and 15" wide. Plenty long for a scarf I think!
Here's a close-up of the stitch pattern:

Isn't it pretty? I know it's hard to see on the blocking board, I promise to take some nicer action shots once it's dry.
Blocking this took ages, almost an hour. It's definitely worth it, though, lace seems to emerge from a woolly cocoon when you stretch the living daylights out of it and pin it. Thank goodness for my lace blocking kit!

I love it. I'm really pleased I went back to it and finished it. Now the dilemma, do I keep it, or gift it?

Pattern: Myrtle Leaf Shawl from Victorian Lace Today (Ravlink)
Yarn: Unknown Laceweight yarn that hubby bought me in Maria's Garn in Stockholm, Sweden in May 2009. I think there was 100g in the skein, and I've about 18-20g left. I'm pretty sure it's a wool/mohair mix, it certainly feels like it.
Needles: 3.75mm KnitPicks Options

For my next trick, I shall attempt to complete the Summit Shawl. Can I do it? (Bob the Builder voice required here) YES, I CAN! (hopefully)

Good knitting!

The scarf is gorgeous!! I love lace knitting -- blocking is so magical. I don't know what to tell you about giving it or keeping (I'd probably keep but I'm selfish that way).

Your shawl/scarf is beautiful! I think you should keep it for yourself. I tend to give my knitting away, so my friends and family are all walking around wearing my knitting, and I'm wearing gloves from the store. I'm working on a pair of mittens for myself right now, and I'm keeping them! lol

Beautiful! And I'm rooting for you to get them all finished!

A friend of mine has a basket that is for her finished work. When someone comes over or if she needs a gift she goes to the basket. She says that way she can make what she wants and if she decides to keep it she will or if not, basket. But in the meantime she can look at it and enjoy!

A lace blocking kit? Oh do tell us more!

The scarf/ wrap is lovely. As for whether you should keep it or not, I'd keep it ( if you don't have too many lace weight scarves/ wraps) - as someone else said I usually give away lots of my knitting and I end up with very little of the fancy stuff. Go on Sinead, you know you're worth it!!

Blocking is magic. That scarf is absolutely lovely and is fine without the border. You will probably get more wear out of it as a scarf anyway, cos you are keeping it, right?

Best of luck with the rest of the wipdown.

It's gorgeous!

I wouldn't be embarrassed about having started it nearly a year ago- at least you finished it. The stuff I have that's been sitting around...

You're making me feel guilty! I'm usually pretty good at finishing but things being what they are I somehow ended up with 3 projects - a shawl, baby sweater and socks. The only issue is the socks - there was something wrong with the pattern that I apparently figured out on sock #1 but it's been so long I can't remember how I fixed it. So it's either pitch the whole mess or find someone with one big heel.
