Fame at last

I knew it was only a matter of time before my true potential was revealed and world domination would result. Today is that day.
I have been mentioned in The Washington Post! Squee!
The lovely D at The Dublin Knit Collective was contacted by a reporter from the paper who writes travel segments in repsonse to requests from readers. She was contacted by a family wanting to travel to Ireland and one of the party is a knitter.
D passed her query on to me and I gave some suggestions of where to go. Hey presto! I got a mention! WOOO!

Here's a link to the article online: Clicky. I'm mentioned right at the end of the article on page 2, and she also mentions the other blog I help out on, Irish Knitting. I can't tell you how happy I am!
I think it is in today's copy of the paper, although sadly I can't get a copy of it over here. I may email the journalist and see if I can buy a copy from her. I'd love to have it in print!

Of course, the best part of it all is Irish knitting gets a plug in the U.S. That's really what it's all about. I hope it spurs on further discussion of it!

In knitty news, the progress on Dad's second sock is shamefully slow. I think I've done about 4 rounds of the ribbing at the cuff. I'm so bad. I must motivate myself to get it done. I also wanted to knit this for A's teddy as another birthday present: Brother Bear Sweater (Ravlink) as she has the exact same bear, and also loves the Brother Bear movies. AND, I saw this and fell in love: Cartouche from the most recent Knitty. How did I miss this when it came out? I think it's fabulous. Although probably really hard. Why do I torment myself with really hard patterns, especially when I'm having knitty mojo issues? Maybe if I refuse to allow myself to cast on for it until I finish the Ethereal top. That might do it.

In random news, check this out!:

Yeah. Nothing like a vomiting chicken egg white separator to remind you where food comes from. I am TOTALLY buying this. Best kitchen gadget evah. Whoever came up with this idea must really hate chickens. Also, do chickens have ears? I didn't think so....

And finally, I leave you with this video of pure melty cuteness:

Six One News: Lambs herald arrival of spring - Video - RTÉ News Player

I hope it works for those of you outside Ireland, it's just too gorgeous not to share.

Good knitting!

How awesome that you were mentioned in The Post! I wish I lived in or near D.C., I'd send you a copy. The journalist should be happy to send you a copy free of charge, though.

The egg separator is HILARIOUS.

And I could see the video just fine. Too cute!

Ummm I don't think they are ears. I think they are supposed to be wings... LOL

I'd just like to say how honored I am to have you as an kniternet friend before you got famous! lol.

That chicken egg separator is astounding! How have I been managing with just 'half the egg shell' all this time? Totally worth the extra dish to wash, what with all the pavs I make all day long... hehe.

Hi Sinead, Sorry I don't know how to put the little thing over the E in your name.....pout. But, I DO know that chickens DO have ears, they don't look that though. They are the same consistency of the comb on the top of the head, but are flattish and on the side of the head. Some poultry have red ears and they lay brown eggs and some have white-ish ears and they lay white eggs. It's the truth!

Congrats on the article. I don't think I have ever even seen a Post in real life. Wow. As always you left enough links to keep me busy for a while. :)
Love the little lamb video...I dare not let my dau. watch or the next thing in the back yard...would be lambs.

Enjoy that fame...

Congrats on your mention! I love that a little good will gets recognized.

Secondly, you made me choke. I saw that barfing chicken and choked on a piece of taffy. That is beyond hilarious and I'd be shocked if you DIDN'T get that hilarious/gross kitchen gadget. (I'm fine ... I can breathe, I swear!)
